Farscape Episode 2.14: “Beware of Dog”
Mar. 6th, 2014 01:44 amThis is one of those episodes that, ostensibly, likely gets a worse rap than it deserves. You got your silly little puppet aliens, one of which John calls “tandori chicken,”and a somewhat goofy A plot. Though the B plot is so significant to the larger story arc that we might as well consider it to be A anyway.
It feels kind of cheap and plagiarist to say this, rather than just relying on my own thoughts, but I owe a bit of a debt to the ScapeCast’s chronicling of this episode, and particularly Nicola’s contributions. She picked up on so many hints and layers to both this installment and the series as a whole, which I think can enhance anyone’s “Farscape” experience. She certainly added to mine, and I consider myself to be pretty well-versed in this show.
John remains in the spotlight, particularly as he continues to battle with some psychological demons that have been becoming more apparent as the season progresses. But in regards to other beats of character growth, I’ll give my kudos to D’argo and Chiana’s evolving relationship (especially as they leave the boudoir,) and also Aeryn. Our formerly cold and stoic ex-Peacekeeper continues to test the bounds of her emotional connections towards others, and that goes for both storylines.
